Almost Orange Chicken

Chicken Mixing Bowl Vegetable Noodles

Almost Orange Chicken⠀


1/2 cup Hawaiin BBQ sauce⠀
1/2 cup orange marmalade sauce⠀
1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce or pineapple juice
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
2 large eggs⠀
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup panko
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1/2" pieces
Oil, for frying


  1. Combine BBQ sauce, orange marmalade, vinegar, red pepper flakes and teriyaki sauce in a saucepan and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes until reduced down and thickened to coat the back of a spoon. Set aside to cool.
  2. Beat eggs in a shallow dish
  3. In a separate shallow dish, mix together flour panko cornstarch salt and pepper.⠀
  4. Coat chicken pieces in the egg, then in flour mixture
  5. Heat a thin layer of oil in a large, nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Once hot, add chicken and fry for 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until chicken is cooked thoroughly and chicken is crispy and golden brown
  7. Place chicken on a plate lined with paper towels
  8. Put the orange sauce to a large mixing bowl and coat the crispy chicken pieces until smothered with the delicious almost orange chicken sauce
  9. Serve over white rice chow mein or carrot veggie noodles and garnish with sesame seeds green onions and drizzle a bit of honey for a new twist on a traditional dish
